As of this year, Fengaros Music Festival has established itself as a regular fixture of the summer calendar. The festival takes its name from an instrumental piece by Thanasis Papaconstantinou, who headlined the festival last year, backed by his ten-piece band. Other artists included J. Kriste, Master of Disguise and Mode Plagal. This year, Louvana Records puts together another excellent mix of acts from Cyprus, Greece and the United Kingdom, to once again deliver a unique program. The beautiful school courtyard in the scenic village of Lofou, Limassol, is remains the chosen venue hosting Fengaros’ stage.
The headliner in this year’s line up is Giannis Aggelakas and his group Giannis Aggelakas 3 (not to be confused with Aggelakas-Veliotis Likoi Live, the group that performed in Cyprus back in February). The unique artist will be presenting brand new material from his album due for release this year. For those who are unfamiliar with his work, Aggelakas was the voice of the historic greek rock band «Trypes». In the past decade he’s had several solo releases and collaborations (‘Apo ‘Do Kai Panw’, ‘Oi Anases ton Likon’). He has also produced other artists (such as Psarantonis), as well as composed scores for films (Psihi Vathia).
The festival will be opening with the Cypriot group, Odyssey. This exceptional trio, (which performs folk/rock music from the 60’s and 70’s giving emphasis on vocal harmonies), will be returning to the stage for the first time after 37 years! Pavlina Konstantopoulou, on vocals and guitar, backed by her brand-new band, will be performing her own acoustic/ethnic/folk compositions. The very popular band Trio Tekke will also be taking this year’s stage, after touring in England and right before performing in Italy, performing songs from their two albums (‘Ta reggetika’ and ‘Samas’), as well as a few surprises. Last but not least, we have the ever-familiar Soundspecies, traveling all the way from England with a six-piece band called Electric Jalaba. This band features guimbri-master Simo Lagnawi (Morroco), to take us into the night with their fresh afro/funk/trance tunes.
This year’s production will also feature musical happenings in other parts of the village. Catering and camping are given extra attention this year, to ensure optimal service. For those eager to start having fun early on, Louvana’s pre-festival party will be taking place on the 3rd of August (the night before the festival) at the Lofou tavern “Oi Kamares”.

Once in a lifetime, you’ll experience a pandemic. Once in a blue moon, you’ll have a chance to escape to a secluded island. Once on a red Thursday, as the local saying in Cyprus goes, you’ll be in a situation with a group of complete strangers, fully immersed in the sparks of creation flying forth. On A Red Thursday (9 March) is the product of just such a gathering of musicians from a multitude of backgrounds, journeys, skills and preferences. Their first single, ‘ Until We Meet Again’ , performed by Eurotoire team members Panayi and Jolien marks the beginning of sharing their experiences of stepping outside their comfort zones with the world. Following this first offering is alternative RnB number ‘ So Lonely ’ (3 February) performed by Maris Pihlap. ‘ Figures ’ (25 February) is the final single before the album’s release and sees Raveloe and Tamara van Esch punk out in a commentary on obstacles womxn face.

In a songwriting programme piloted by Cypriot label, Louvana Records called Eurotoire, songwriters, producers, and session musicians from ten countries were invited to gather in Cyprus to test their limits, trust strangers, and allow their artistry to merge. Their initial week-long meeting began on a Thursday in June at Studio eleven63 in the island’s capital of Nicosia and blossomed into fifteen demos. After another two writing and recording sessions in July and September, the tracks bloomed into the Eurotoire team members’ fully-fledged album. Now they’re using On A Red Thursday to spread the word about the power of surrendering to creative instinct and collaborating with the unknown. On 13 February, the Louvana Records YouTube channel premiered a short documentary created by all eighteen artists with a single camera shared between them. Clips shot by the artists were edited together by videographer Antonis Pouliasis to depict their journey from complete strangers to collaborators as they untie forces to create an album together.
